Overview

MOVE interns, together with the MOVE Program Director and MOVE Program Assistant, work with volunteer teams to provide translation and interpretation assistance to UVA and Charlottesville community organizations. This is a paid position.

Responsibilities

Main responsibilities include working closely with the MOVE Program Director and MOVE Program Assistant to prepare and send translation requests, recruiting volunteers, maintaining email communication with volunteers, maintaining and building connections with community organizations, updating and maintaining online presence (website, social media), and planning and hosting events.

Qualifications

Required: Current MOVE volunteer. Current UVA graduate or undergraduate student. An interest in sharing cultures and language skills and building connections between UVA and community organizations. Proficiency with Office 365 (Outlook, SharePoint, Teams).

English does not need to be your first language.

Preferred: Experience with Canva and website design/maintenance. Public speaking skills.

Hours

About 5 hours per week, including a weekly hour-long MOVE Leadership meeting on Mondays.
