More Information: May is Bike Month! And there’s a lot of activity and events being planned that support broad engagement across the community, especially for kids and families. In an effort to be more inclusive, the City of Charlottesville and Safe Routes to School, among other community efforts, wants to share resources with as many community members as possible. They will be sending home a backpack flier with every elementary school student about Bike Month happenings and free and low-cost ways to get connected to bilking in the community.

More Information: Monticello High School wants to alert senior students and their families about graduation requirements, for students who are in danger of not being able to participate in the graduation ceremony. This letter will help communicate the circumstances to their families, and ensure that they are aware of how to help their senior student get back on track.

More Information: This document is part of a Time Entry tool UVA Facilities and Management are providing to new UVA Facilities Management Employees to aid them in entering their time into their iPhones using the iPhone Workday App. The intent is to provide tools for new associates in their native language to remove any stressors or challenges to employees. The original document includes images of the workday app where the translations will later be copied and pasted into shareable versions.

More Information: Street Sheets are a one-page printout that enables those with limited English and internet access to learn about critical resources on a printed page in their own language. These handouts detail important community resources, such as childcare, food pantries, and mental health services, are distributed throughout the greater Charlottesville area to our multilingual neighbors. Street Sheets started out of the pandemic as a project to spread awareness about COVID health resources, and has continued beyond just COVID health resources to include all kinds of health/social services, employment information, housing, discrimination services, hotlines and more.

More Information: UVA Facilities and Management recently updated its organizational values, and is seeking to provide the translations of the document for employees who may not read English as their primary language.
PVcc interpretation request

More Information: PVCC has requested a phone interpreter to help enroll a Dari/Farsi speaker into a PVCC career development program. This student is struggling to enroll in the course and your help would allow them to access tuition assistance and financial support while they complete their Commercial Driver’s License course, and ultimately move to a higher paying, quality position. Greater access to quality employment is good for direct stakeholders as well as the community at large.
We have included a link to an accompanying document for you to peruse in advance. This would help guide the phone interpreting.

Virginia Discovery Museum Signage

More Information: The museum has a lot of visitors from programs such as IRC who do not speak any english. Our goal is to have our rules and signage (such as Emergency Exit and No Food signs) translated to multiple languages. This will hopefully provide a more safe and inclusive environment for all of our guests.
